Tanya + Frank | Port Stanley Engagement Session | Signature Edit

The best photos can't be planned! Sometimes it's just luck - you have be in the right place at the right time! Just like in life, the best moments are the ones you didn't plan or they were completely unexpected.

So many times I hear the bride or groom say "I love the candid photos because it's so natural, genuine, and captures the moment!" I have to agree with that statement, but with a little bit of vision and creativity, we can create an image that is stunning, and tells a story.

We were in the little quaint village of Port Stanley for Tanya and Frank's engagement session earlier this summer. I wanted to create something special for them, but wasn't sure what I was going to do. I came up with an idea, but wasn't sure if it would work out. Tanya & Frank were a little hesitant, but I assured them that if it works out the way I envision it, it will be worth it.

We came up with a little plan, scouted the location quickly, and went to work. I said to go out to those rocks, and do this pose and that pose, and then switch positions, pose again, and kiss each other, and keep doing it until I wave you back in (They were too far away to communicate verbally with). I then ran back to the beach, gave them the go ahead, they started posing, and I starting photographing from the beach. The photos looked good but weren't looking the way I had envisioned - they were too far away and too small in the frame, people were sitting and fishing off the rocks around them, and kayaking on the water in front of them.

When I got home, I had a second look at the photos, played around with them a little bit, and the rest is history! A signature edit was born!

When a client comes in for their engagement session preview, they see a photo on the screen…pause for a moment, and then say "I thought that was a screensaver at first, and then realized it was us. WOW!" - you know you have created a photo they love.

It's creating photos like this that make me love what I do! I love creating epic works of art for my clients!

…and to think we weren't even going to attempt the photo in the first place! As the saying goes "if you don't try, you won't know".

To get these epic images, you have to feel a little adventurous….you have to step out of your comfort zone. Tanya & Frank were willing to do that, and it surely paid off!

Looking forward to seeing this couple as bride and groom, and I can't wait to see what we capture on their wedding day!
